For a curtain that displays images, the number that matters most is how tightly the LEDs are packed. We divided each brand's published LED count by its published area:

Higher density means finer detail and smoother curves, especially when people look from a few metres away. From across the road, all of these curtains read as clear pictures; the difference shows most on a window or balcony seen up close.

Weather rating and where you can hang them

Twinkly rates the Curtain IP44, which means splash resistant: fine for covered balconies, porches and indoor windows. Govee lists IP65 for Curtain Lights 2, which adds protection against water jets and suits spots where the British rain hits. Either way, keep adapters dry (Govee's UK page says its UK-plug adapter is for indoor or dry locations only) and use an RCD-protected outdoor socket. Apps, control and music

• Twinkly connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so you can control it from anywhere on your home network. Music sync works with Twinkly Music. Twinkly also notes that several Curtains can be grouped in the app to act as one display.
• Govee uses the Govee Home app, supports Matter and voice assistants, offers 8 music modes, and lets you draw, upload photos or GIFs, or generate effects with its AI Lighting Bot. Govee notes that the smallest model (H70B3) cannot be spliced to other units.

Buying Twinkly lights or Govee curtain lights in the UK

• Twinkly lists several plug types; choose the Type G (UK three-pin) version, not a foreign plug on a travel adaptor.
• Govee has a UK store with prices in pounds; model names and sizes can differ from the US page, so confirm before ordering.
• Other Govee Christmas lights or Twinkly lights? The same checks apply: UK plug, IP rating, UKCA or CE marking and a reputable seller.

A simpler third option: Lumalyn
